Resource for Preachers
My journey began in Lafayette, Indiana. I am from a large family and did not grow up with any significant church background. In my first year of college I met a group of amazing people who, as it turned out, were followers of Jesus. This group along with a brilliant local pastor worked together and led me to our Lord. I accepted Jesus as my Savior in December of 1987 and was baptized on a Tuesday evening in January 1988 with just my college Intervarsity buddies present. My journey with Jesus has been remarkable. By God's grace I have experienced the highest of highs, by my depraved nature I have visited the lowest of lows and there has been a ton of good and bad in between. I created this website in the faith and religion category to help those who endeavor in full-time Christian ministry. My hope is that some part of my experience might benefit another as they serve our Savior.
I know it is trite, but when people ask me if I am religious, I often tell them I am religious about basketball, but I have a relationship with Jesus. Basketball is one of my hobbies and one that, even though I'm in my 50's, I still enjoy playing. Even more so now that I have two partially replaced knees! My other favorite things to do include reading, doing crosswords and walking most anywhere with my amazing wife, Tonya. We love exploring, traveling and experiencing the world God has made for us.
Many of my favorite things are tied up in my hobbies but my most favorite things are my wonderful children. I have three sons and two daughters all of whom bless my life and challenge me to work hard every day to live like Jesus. Children are gifts from God and I have been beyond blessed. Other things I really enjoy are our two Wheaton Terriers, I also love exploring cities and towns and working on projects of all kinds.
